Imagine you're in the bustling city of New York for a meeting. Your boss asks you to send over some files. But a betrayal happens: your hotspot is not working on eSIM, and you can’t share the important files. The situation is quite frustrating for remote workers and other everyday users.
Your eSIM hotspot stopped working due to software glitches, network issues, or carrier restrictions. But don’t worry, let's get this fixed.
This article is a troubleshooting guide to avoid the eSIM hotspot connection problems.
Why is the personal eSIM hotspot not working?
The root cause of the personal hotspot not working on eSIM includes the following reasons.
- Outdated Software: The outdated software of iOS or Android devices can be the reason for the eSIM hotspot problem.
- Limited Connectivity: Sometimes, the eSIM hotspot has limited connectivity. You can just connect one or two devices to your hotspot.
- Carrier Restriction: The carrier restriction limits the eSIM data plan sharing with other devices. If your network carrier doesn’t allow data sharing, you can let the other devices access your data.
- Incorrect APN Settings: APN is the gateway to connect your device to the network to access your eSIM data. The incorrect APN settings in the device disrupt the eSIM hotspot.
- Network Settings Issues: When users switch to different eSIM profiles it disrupts the network settings. The alteration in the network leads to the eSIM data tethering.
- Weak Internet Connection: If the internet weak, the personal hotspot stops working on eSIM. To ensure stable tethering, make sure to have a strong internet connection.
- Carrier Data Sharing Limit: Some network providers add the shared data limit to the plan. When the data sharing reaches the limit, the hotspot stops working.
These are the most common causes of eSIM hotspots not working. Understanding the reason for the problem will help you search for a solution.

How to fix the eSIM hotspot not working?
- Restart Your Device: If your eSIM hotspot is not working, restart your device. Turning off the device for a while helps to fix minor glitches.
- Update Device Software: The iPhone and Android devices working with outdated software restrict the eSIM hotspot. Therefore, make sure your device is updated to the latest software version.
- Network Reset: Check the network settings of your device. If you use a dual SIM device, set the physical SIM as a primary line and eSIM for data. Now enable the tethering to share the data.
- Enable Maximize Compatibility: You can enable maximum compatibility to share data with more devices on the iPhone.
- Reconfigure eSIM Data Plan: If your hotspot is not working on eSIM, check the data limit. If your data plan expires you should top up the plan. After that, you will be able to share the eSIM hotspot.
- Contact Your Carrier: If none of the steps above don't work for troubleshooting your eSIM hotspot issue, contact your cellular network carrier. The carrier will provide you with further details.
